Just learned that chef Jody Denton, formerly of Bend favorites Merenda and Deep, has reemerged in California after a short spell in Sydney, Australia.
Denton landed in Santa Monica, where news reports named him executive chef and co-partner in a small operation called the Blue Plate Oysterette. However, I just got a note from restaurant owner Jennifer Rush Morton, who said: “Jody consulted for BP Oysterette for several months and helped us with opening operations, but he is no longer at BP Oysterette and is not executive chef or co-partner.”
So the chef is again a free agent. Don’t hold your breath waiting for him to return to Bend.
