Shelly DuPlessis, the talented pastry chef at 900 Wall, is leaving Bend.
It’s a great career move for DuPlessis, who won three of the four awards at April’s “Tour du Chocolat” competition at the Tower Theatre. She is joining the kitchen at Jory Restaurant, at the beautiful new Allison Inn and Spa in the heart of the Oregon wine country near Newberg.
After finishing high school in Las Vegas and earning a degree from the University of California-Davis, DuPlessis moved to Oregon. Before joining the staff at Merenda, and staying through its conversion last year to 900 Wall, she worked with chef Rollie Wessen (son-in-law of the famed Jacques Pepin) at Rivers (now Aquariva), the restaurant at Portland’s Avalon Hotel and Spa. At the Allison, she will be reunited with general manager Pierre Zreik, who was GM at the Avalon during Shelly’s tenure there.
